A seven days strike started by the Safari Vehicle owners, Drivers, Tourist agents and Hoteliers against the mismanagement in the new booking system of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve has been called off in just two days. The strike had been started on Friday and the safari was canceled on Friday and Saturday due to the strike and unavailability of the safari vehicle. All the tourists who had visited at the booking window were returned to their hotel disappointed.
However, the strike which was scheduled for a week has been called off on Saturday late evening. As per the reserve authorities, the safari will be resumed from Sunday morning. A group of Jeep and canter owners, drivers, guides, tourist agents, hoteliers and other local traders in Ranthambore held a series of meetings with the various forest officials and district officials of the Ranthambore forest department and the Sawai Madhopur district.
After the forest department assured them in a meeting on Saturday evening that they will look into the matter and that their demands will be reached to the higher officials of the state forest department, the strike was called off and the tourism-related activities have been restored since yesterday. The tourists get a sigh of relief and cheered as they can now enjoy the safari in the most famous National Park in the country.
The wildlife safari services resumed on Sunday and the safari vehicles had reached on the spot for the morning safari in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. The protestors have kept their demands in front of the forest officials of Ranthambore. They were demanding that the new tourism zones, zone 11 and zone 12, of the Ranthambore Tiger reserve should be opened for the safari to enhance the number of vehicles visiting in the park and to meet the increased flow of tourists in the holiday season.
Earlier, when the protesters warned the forest officials about their decision of going on strike if their demands were not heard, the forest officials also threatened to take a firm action against the vehicle's owners if they will go on the strike and also issued a notice for the same. However, the workers association of the Ranthambore National Park went on the strike on Friday for a week, but they canceled their strike on Saturday evening and the tourism activities have been restored as before.
