After the successful relocation of the first tiger named RT-91 from the Ranthambore National Park, the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve all set to get the two more female tigers from the Ranthambore. Two tigresses of the Ranthambore National Park, T-99 and T-102 have already been identified for the relocation to the Mukundra Hills National Park by the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve administration.

The one among the two tigresses, tigress T-99 is around 3 years of age and is the cub of tigress T-60. It was chosen for the relocation because she was moving out from their existing territory and looking out for the territory, as per the source from the forest department of Ranthambore.

Till now, both the mother T-60 and daughter T-99 were living together in the Gudda forest area of the zone 2 of the Ranthambore National Park. But lately, the daughter was looking out for the new territory for herself and she was trying to move into the zone 10 of the RNP which is already the marked territory of tigress T-79 and T-13.

The second tigress chosen for the relocation is the tigress T-102, a female cub of the tigress T-73. The tigress is now living in the zone 5 of the Ranthambore National Park in the Bakola forest region. As per a forest official, it might be possible that the Tigress T-73, mother of T-102, could be relocated instead of her daughter T-102. However, the T-102 is selected for the relocation till now.

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has officially given its approval-in-principle to relocate two tigresses on Monday. The relocation of tigresses will take away the loneliness of the lone tiger in the Mukundra Hills National Park. The relocation is expected to happen by the end of this month.

One of the senior forest officials of Ranthambore National Park said, “All issues regarding the relocation of tigers to Mukundra have been sorted out with the NTCA. Approval has been granted for the relocation of two tigresses from Ranthambore to Mukundra. The relocation is expected to happen before July.”
