The Machali T-16 :

Jhalra Female T-19 or Krishna :

The cub of majestic Machali tigress who is the queen of Ranthambore national park, T19 or Unnis or Krishna or Jhalra Female is a famous tigress of the reserve. She has got name Jhalra Female due to her territory, Jhalra, in which she spent her good days. Unnis was born along with 2 of her sisters - Sundari and Athara during monsoon in 2006. These three cubs were born to Machali - the majestic tigress queen of Ranthambore Reserve. First time, three of these cubs of Machali were seen in 2006 by the tourist vehicle. But, after December, people started witnessing them frequently around park.

t-19 ranthambore park

In year 1957, this ultimate wildlife park was entitled with wildlife sanctuary; however in 1974, this park popularized as "Project Tiger". In 1981, the park gained its current status of being a national park. Since then, it is enjoying its position of a national park of India which attracts a number of visitors every year.

What Makes T-19 So Attractive-

The best part of Unnis is her lineage which is simply amazing and makes people notice her. She belongs to Machali and Sundari who both are quite popular tigress of Ranthambore. Though her sister Sundari left his lineage just to explore her independent territory in her young age. Unnis with her sister Athara stayed with Machali - their mother for a longer period of time till 2008. Sundari managed to found her strong territory and also, won lakes territory from her mother. However, Athara T 18 moved and made Nalghati, PhootaKot region and Phoota Banda her territory. Unnis left with limited options for territories left by Machali - Mandoop plateau. Mandoop plateau has less prey density and ongoing waterholes that make it a bad territory for tigers. Though after Athara was sent to Sariska, Unnis got a chance to grab her territory.

Opposite to Athara and Sundari, Unnis was a shy kind of tigress of the national park and it was the reason, she had not been much observed during the period of 2008 - 2011. At that time, she made herself limited to few alienated areas of Mandoop plateau. This act made her hardly visible to anyone.

It was seen that she mated with Star Male - T28 in 2010 and 2011. Star Male was highly dominant male tiger of that region during that period. Within few months of mating, she got disappeared. However, there had been few marks that proved her presence like her droppings and pugmarks around Nalghati territory. So, it was thought that she got lost to bear her own litter and started spending time with her young cubs. After some time, she was seen with 3 cubs in which 2 were male cubs and 1 was female cub. In an attempt to grow her territory, she extended to Lahpur Valley along with her young ones. So, by December 2011, her territory was extended as she managed to establish the biggest territory in Ranthambore Reserve.

At present, Unnis T19 is often seen reigning the entire Ranthambore territory and has become a great owner of the region. She turned to be the ideal heir of entire Machali's territory after Athara was sent to Sariska. Visitors can see her training her small cubs which are merely 10 months old around woods of Kamaldhar - Nalghati territory in Ranthambore national park zone 2. She can also be seen walking in the wood in sunlight.
