Around two-thirds of the total world population of the Bengal tigers roam freely in the Indian forests. So, the Jungle safari for the Tiger sighting is the most famous and adventurous wildlife activity in India that draws a huge number of wildlife tourists from every corner of the world. There are many tiger reserves and sanctuaries in India, where tourists visit to get a glimpse of the majestic tigers, and Ranthambore National Park, in Rajasthan, is one among them. The Tigers of Ranthambore are truly majestic, who rule the entire forest with their ferocious attitudes that no other wild animals can match.

The raw and green cover of Ranthambore National Park, that spread in the huge area of 1334 sq. km, is the kingdom of the Royal Bengal Tigers and also the home to numerous wild flora and fauna, among which many are rarely found in the forest elsewhere. The unique and vivid topography and the rich wildlife make this amazing forest an ideal destination for wildlife-loving tourists as well as professional wildlife photographers. The dusty, rocky terrain of the forest, isolated from the human habitat, is so surreal that it is considered paradise for wildlife photographers and videographers. That’s why there are numerous documentaries and films that were shot here by the world-famous documentary and film makers.

Here, I will tell you why you should not miss the Ranthambore National Park while looking for the wildlife tour in India and why the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve is the best destination for tiger sighting than any other tiger reserve in India. The dry and desolate lands filled with pebbles and rocks along with dusty roads, numerous big and small lakes, water holes, hills and the historic touch of monuments make this forest vivid, fascinating and exotic. The richness in the biodiversity and the multiplicity of the ecosystem are the identity of the Ranthambore forest.

The deciduous forest allows you the opportunity to get the sighting of not only the magnificent Bengal Tigers, but the variety of exotic wild animals such as Leopards, Sloth Bears, Wild Boars, Jackals, Fox, Squirrels, Desert Cats, Nilgai, Sambar, Deer and many others along with the species of reptiles such as Marsh Crocodile, Cobras, Desert Lizards, Pythons and others. The forest and its numerous lakes are the reason for having more than 250 species of exotic birds, which makes this place a perfect birding destination for bird lovers. The various exotic and colourful bird species near the lakes and water bodies will catch your eye. Places like Padam Talao, Malik Talao, Rajbagh Talao, Ranthambore Fort and the Jhalra region are the best birding destinations inside the forest.

Thrilling Forest Safari

Undoubtedly, forest safari is the most exciting activity in any of the National Park but the Jeep Safari in Ranthambore National Park has its own charm. The safari service organised in the Ranthambore is very flexible according to your requirements, like you have the option of a 6-seater Jeep safari or 20-seater Canter safari, and you can also hire the safari for the whole day by paying the required extra fees. You will also easily get the permission for making a documentary, shooting a film or professionally photographing the wildlife of Ranthambore by paying the required fees. Also, the tigers of Ranthambore are diurnal in nature, due to which chances of spotting a tiger in the daytime are much higher than in any other park in India.

A Tint of History with Ancient Fort amidst the Dense Forest

Being a famous place in Rajasthan and not having any ancient forts or palaces is quite unlikely. The amazing Ranthambore forest is adorned with both a magnificent, gigantic fort named Ranthambore Fort and a palace named Jogi Mahal. Both are a testimony to the grandeur and the valour of the Imperial era of Rajasthan and certainly add the historic touch and beauty to the forest. The Ranthambore Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is preserved for its important historic value. Along with the Fort and Mahal, there are historic ruins along the Rajbagh Talao known as the Rajbagh ruins, which also add a dash of prehistoric charm to the area. Overlooking the entire forest, the Ranthambore Fort was built around 800 years ago, and since then, it has been a strategically important Fort for the rulers of Rajasthan. It was under the Jaipur Kingdom at the time of abolishment of the Imperial rule in Rajasthan.

Flora of Ranthambore Proudly Exhibit its Ancient Banyan Tree

More than 300 species of flora that densely draped the entire Ranthambore forest are what make the forest surreal. An Ancient Banyan Tree that graced the forest with its gigantic presence near the Jogi Mahal is said to be the second-largest Banyan tree in India. It has been attracting tourists and is a proud possession of the Ranthambore forest, along with the Royal Bengal Tigers and Ranthambore Fort.

Railway Station or Wildlife Art Gallery

As soon as you get down from the train at Sawai Madhopur, the nearest railway station to Ranthambore, you will get the hint about what is famous here.
